Showcasing Arts & Culture

The New Monaco neighbourhood is being designed to showcase both local and international artists and performers.

Support for the arts is being planned for all areas of the neighbourhood including:

• Artist studios
• Arts education
• Community arts facilities
• Indoor and outdoor performance space
• Art galleries
• Community art walls
• Art and film projection infrastructure
• Public art
• Festival infrastructure
• Many other elements

A strong relationship has been built with the Peachland Arts Council and UBC’s Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. A number of arts-related programs are already underway including a partnership with UBC to film five years of change on the New Monaco site as the neighbourhood is built.

The designers of Granville Island have been hired to help plan and design the village center, and a major artisan market is planned to offer local and international artisan goods.
